Check out this awesome piece of Game of Thrones fan art depicting the characters from season 1 in their very own Last Supper. How about Tyrion getting the honor of being front and center at this table? I think it fits!

Anthony Sulla-Heffinger of the NY Post has a wonderful feature today, comparing the 10 MLB playoff teams to Game of Thrones characters. Even if you don’t like baseball, it’s absolutely worth the read! Here’s an excerpt:
For this unique look at the MLB playoffs, which begin Friday with the Wild Card games, I will be drawing comparisons between the ten teams vying for the World Series and ten characters from the HBO television series based on the series of novels written by George R.R. Martin.
Those of you who have watched the epic fantasy series need not worry about spoilers because I will not divulge anything here that has not occurred in the first two seasons of the show, which coincide with the first two books of the series.
So without further delay, here we go.
Yankees – Tywin Lannister – As if there were any way the Yankees could not be compared to the Lannisters. Aside from the fact that the Yankees have the highest payroll in baseball and the Lannisters are one of the richest families in Westeros, the two also have a rich history. Lord Tywin is one of the most powerful, feared and respected lords in Westeros, much like the Yankees are in baseball. At the end of season two of the show, Tywin storms to King’s Landing at the very last moment to save the city from being sacked by Stannis Baratheon, much like the Yankees stormed the AL East at the last moment to win the division and hold off the Baltimore Orioles. The Lannisters are the family that everyone loves to hate, much like the Yankees are the “Evil Empire” of baseball.
Orioles – Robb Stark – The Orioles just didn’t go away. Every time you expected them to fall off and drop out of the playoff hunt, they defied the odds and will play in Friday’s Wild Card game. Much like the Orioles resilience, Robb Stark, to this point in his young military career, has not lost a battle as he marches south toward King’s Landing to face the Lannister host. While the Young Wolf is not as seasoned or experienced in battle as Tywin Lannister, there is no doubt that he will prove to be a formidable foe on the battlefield should they meet, much like there is little doubt the Orioles will be a tough out in the ALDS should they make it that far.
See if you can guess who else might be compared to playoff baseball teams. In our opinion, it sucks to be a Reds fan (Theon Greyjoy), but being the Braves (Jorah Mormont) or Cardinals (Daenerys Targaryen) is pretty awesome in our book. How would you classify the teams, Game of Thrones style?
(Note: You may recall this earlier piece, linking Game of Thrones to MLB!)
Check out these soon-to-be-released Game of Thrones action figures from POP!. These are actually really cute in my opinion. I’m not certain cute is what they were aiming for, but if so they succeeded! I actually think I might need to get these, especially that White Walker, what do you think of him? To see more head on over to Kotaku now!

This is pretty awesome! I totally buy into this depiction of a prince-like Jorah protecting Dany, after all that is what he does, isn’t it? This drawing by The-EZ on Deviant Art really makes him resemble a Disney prince, which seems entirely fitting. Not to mention this is really, really good!
Thanks to The Mary Sue for tipping us off to this!
Here’s some season three casting updates for you! Ed Skrein will play Stormcrow captain Daario Naharis and Jacob Anderson is slated to play Grey Worm in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. See below for more details!

Newcomer Ed Skrein will play Daario. According to IMDB, he’s a musician and actor who recently broke into the British film scene.

I REALLY love this drawing of Sansa Stark by Bubug! Not only is it visually appealing, but the attention to detail is incredible!
Check out the art analysis by A Gallery of Thrones:
This is so beautiful, and a perfect illo of Sansa. Note the hound with the scarred face, and the little bird on her shoulder, pulling at a wisp of her hair. The artist does this all in *gel pens* (can you fathom that?!) and then colors it in Corel. Breathtaking.
After spending far too long waiting for somebody to upload all the goods, we’ve finally got a decent set of videos from the Game of Thrones panel at Comic-Con!
Thanks to magicthenumbers for sharing these!
The trailer for the new online MMORPG video game, Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms, was released at San Diego Comic Con today!
According to a press release from Bigpoint, the company behind Seven Kingdoms, “the game will be set within the fictional medieval world of Westeros and its Seven Kingdoms, and will allow players to experience epic moments from the television series.”
Game of Thrones: Seven Kindgoms is slated for an early 2013 release! Will you be playing?
Unfortunately, it looks as though Lena Headey, who plays Cersai Lannister, will not be able to attend SDCC this year. Nor will our beloved Jon Snow, Kit Harington. However, you’ll be able to see Rose Leslie as she has just been added!
From Cinema Blend:
Another day, another change-up to the panel for Game of Thrones at Comic-Con. And unlike the update we shared yesterday, this one doesn’t sound like a trade-off. One key cast member will not be appearing in the panel as scheduled, due to an injury.
Yesterday we learned that Lena Headey was unfortunately not going to be at the Comic Con panel for Game of Thrones due to a scheduling conflict. There was a bright side to that situation, as it was announced that Rose Leslie, who plays Ygritte on the HBO fantasy drama series, was set to fill the vacancy. Now it looks like Kit Harington will also not be attending SDCC for the Game of Thrones panel. The official GoT Twitter posted the following update…
So, unfortunately it looks like there will be no Jon Snow at the SDCC Game of Thrones panel, and there’s no word on anyone else coming in to fill his place. Hopefully Harington’s injury heals quickly and fully. From what the Hollywood Reporter says, it doesn’t sound like it’ll interfere with production on the series’ third season. He will definitely be missed by fans at this year’s Con though.
Here’s wishing Kit a speedy recovery!
You cannot look into Nymeria’s eyes and not be moved. Please note: spoilers ahead!
If you’ve watched the show, you know this is the moment when Arya says goodbye to Nymeria. This digital piece captures the sadness in this direwolf’s eyes far better than we saw in the episode. Kind of hard not to tear up, right?
